Branding and Marketing are critical to the business

Any successful business understands the importance of marketing. A great deal of time, money, and resources goes into marketing the right products to the right markets.

Just as businesses market their products, people must market themselves in order to be successful. We each must be able to answer the following questions:

  • Why would someone invest in me?
  • Why should I get that promotion, job, or opportunity over the other qualified candidates?

If you are here today, it’s because you passed through several gatekeepers and managed to sell yourself well. You likely passed the interview, basic skills tests, personality tests, background checks, and drug screens. And, you brought with you education, experience, acquired skills, and people networks.

Although the name of your business and your logo on your business card and letterhead are part of branding, it is much more than that. Your brand is your business’ identity. A potent brand identity is a statement that says what it is that your business does, how you go about doing it, and who you are, along with establishing your significance and credibility to your customers.

The people who make it in business have an amazing passion for what they do and want to run their own business, but when it comes to actually working out what it actually is they want to do in their business, something happens.

Either, they have been caught up in a ‘title’ and feel they have to reflect that or due to the very helpful comments and suggestions from friends and family, have moved so far from their original idea that they are not really sure what they are doing any more.

What is your business Brand?

If marketing is everything we do for our business, then brand is everything about our business. You create your business brand by:

  • Understanding what you offer to your customers or clients
  • Knowing why you are doing it, what your passion is and your motivation
  • Having a clear idea of who your customers or clients are and
  • Identifying the key features and more importantly the benefits of your business

When you have worked out these elements of your business, you have effectively built or created your business brand. Not only is your brand your business, it is how customers or potential customers perceive it, experience it, remember it, and identify with it.  It also how you present it, communicate it, live it!

Brand Objections:

Any successful business understands the importance of marketing. A great deal of time, money, and resources go into marketing, and getting the right products to the right markets. There are marketing firms that are referred to as the “800 pound gorilla” in the room because they are always requesting more money to get product information to the market.

Although the name of your business and your logo on your business card and letterhead are part of branding, it is much more than that. Your brand is your business’ identity. A potent brand identity is a statement that says what it is that your business does, how you go about doing it, and who you are, along with establishing your significance and credibility to your customers.

Branding is the way customers perceive your business.

If prospects perceive the brand name of a company as high value, it enjoys several advantages over its competitors, particularly related to pricing.

Perceived value is the reason why people pay top dollar for branded goods and clothing. How a brand is perceived comes about by highly effective promotion of the brand, which results in creating good awareness about it.

Now that we know what success looks like, we need to understand what we look like in that role. The term “branding” describes the packaging of a product that creates a visual impression.
